Saved Lives

Dropping the bombs resulted in fewer deaths than if the U.S. were to invade the island and fight a standard war. It is estimated that at least 500,000 American soldiers lives would have been lost, and an even larger amount on Japanese soldiers. Especially since the Japanese often fought to the death, following the Samurai Code. The bombing resulted in approximately 110,000- 210,000 Japanese deaths; saving at least 300,000 lives or more.
